Disapointment
Description: This was probably the most difficult location I have ever tried to get to. It took me 2 hours to finally approach it. Hidden deep within a thick canopy of trees and bushes this location had all the markings of being the one. All roads leading to the site had been almost completely erased. Access from the main road was obscured. I started out from what looked like the main driveway entrance and cut across a rolling field to find a better path to the site. I couldnt see the house, I was going on satelite images and only had a vague Idea where it was. After crawling under large trees I came across a steep ledge and at the bottom the original driveway was visible. I slid down and started to follow it as it wound down a hill towards a small river.

I gradually find myself out in the open where a single old hydro pole stands in the center of the field with the wires falling near the river and into the trees. I still cant see any house. I try to follow the road towards the river hoping to find a bridge but there was nothing. What was more interesting was the site of 2 chairs with ladders sitting high up in some trees near the edge of this opening and close to a marsh area. Could these be hunting posts? then I realised the road that I had been following looked like it had recently been disturbed. Someone had driven down here recently. Illegal hunting goin on? I was a bit freaked out.

I kept trying to find a way across the river but the rocks were too slippery and it was just too wide. I decided to head back and try my other route. On my way back I decided to follow the tire tracks past were i first got onto them. I took them for a bit but decided to stop wasting time, it led to another abandoned house that I had visited before but had since been boarded up. I headed back to the car and drove to an area that was a bit closer to the house.

I parked where there was a large opening to some rolling farmers fields and started to plot my trek. This would prove to be the most difficult. This wasnt an active field and the brush was 5 feet high in places. It was like a jungle. I used my tripod to move the brush away and flatten it with my fet but I had to watch out for these massive spiders in the weeds, nice big ass black and yellow freaks. Took me a good 45 minutes to finally get to the line of trees I was aiming for but I still couldnt see the house.

Finally I see an opening at another field and what looks like an old road, I start walking down the embankment and there I see the roof peaking out of the tree tops. Its about time! but as soon as I see the brick on the exterior I get worried. Its old but not as old as I had hoped. The house is trashed, not that interesting and access to the 2nd floor is impossible. Nothing interesting here.

The trek back was not as easy as I thought it would be. Sure, just follow the path you made. Didnt work out near the end. I lost my path and I was now in 6 foot brush and weeds, It felt like I was getting eatin by the field lol. I finally get back to the car completely drenched in sweat. Most dissapointing exploration.. ever.

Members can find this location in the Locations Map. Located near Pine Valley Drive and Major Mack around the town of Klienberg. From the satelite image you can see how much land I had to travel. I first tried the west side from Pine Valley Drive but then decided to approach from the south side near Millwood Parkway.

The Spiders...

Those "nice big ass black and yellow freaks" might be Orange Garden Spiders, or their other name...Writing Spiders. They have a zig-zag heavier web pattern in one place in the whole of their web. You can google them if you really want to see a pic. I am too lazy this morning to include a link, my appologies. We have these spiders in Indiana and they love fields and overhangs to barns. They don't seem to want to bother anyone, nor are they really poisonous, but EW, they get really BIG!
